August 2, 2008 - 8:00AM The race is entirely on a paved surface. The starting line will be about one mile north of the Fairview Lakes Lookout at the top of Fairview Canyon on Highway 31, which is between mile markers 11 and 12. The race will begin at approximately the 9300 ft. level and proceed on an uphill grade for about 3 kilometers to the summit, which is just below the 10,000 ft. elevation level. It will then continue on a downhill grade for the next 7 kilometers to conclude at approximately the 9100 ft. level. The finish line will be at the parking lot of Huntington Reservoir Dam. There will be two aid stations, one located at the 3000 meter point and one at the 6000 meter point of the race, with water for the racers. There will also be a racers table of fruit and drinks at the finish. There will also be a 7K walk in conjunction with the race, for those who would like to support our local hospital and also enjoy the beauty and fresh mountain air on a summer morning walk. The walk will also start at 8:00AM, but will begin at the summit and proceed to the finish line. The walk will be almost entirely on a downhill grade and should be a nice easy walk. Race age categories will be as follows: The 2008 race will be the Fifth annual SKYLINE 10K race sponsored by the Sanpete Valley Health Care Foundation. The benefits of this race are several fold. Proceeds from this race go towards the purchase of needed health care equipment for the local IHC hospital, located in Mt. Pleasant. Other benefits for the racers and families include the opportunity to come and see the beauty of the Skyline Drive above the Sanpete Valley. Hopefully, while here you will enjoy the beautiful drive South on the Skyline Drive and then descend off the mountain to one of the cities in Sanpete County. Come enjoy a GREAT day on the mountain with us and witness one
